I'm really enjoying Dark Link! I feel like you've put a lot of thought into a character with very little screen time (hmmmm, that sounds familiar, lol) and have really given him a life of his own and a personality. I greatly looking forward to being Link's Troll Dad/Sage.

Oh shit, you went and mentioned the Clones from Star Wars. If I wasn't already a fan of Dark Link, that would totally sell me, because OH MY GOD TRAGIC CLOOOOOOONES!

Ahem.

Star Wars nerdery got out, whoops.

Anyway, let's hear it for totally minor characters getting fleshed out and expanded and being awesome together!

Minor characters are the best ones.

Are you on Plurk? I'm missazrael over there, you should join us over there, where I blather about Signless and Equius and all sorts of stuff on a daily basis. And I'll be happy to share some of Signless' motivations, buuuut if you're a Christian, some of them could be percieved as borderline blasphemous, and I don't want to offend you. So please, if that would offend you, let me know and I'll keep them to myself. If not... get ready for a novel.

I'm using my Equius account now, but it's still Kathryn/Signless-mun.

So, okay... basically, I was raised Christian but then fell out of the religion when I was a teenager and started studying history. I realized that I couldn't get behind a religion that, while I rather liked the ideas of Jesus, had so much blood on its hands through the ages. I now identify as Miscellaneous whenever anyone asks me; it's a lovely blend of Taoism, Christianity, Hindu, Jedi Knight, and that one episode of Futurama where Bender meets God. However, I'm pretty familiar with the Biblical stories (the interesting ones) from all the church I got dragged to as a kid.

I try and play Signless the way I imagine Jesus would have acted during his lifetime, which I view as this very nice, very kind and empathetic guy, who never really thought he was anything special, just a carpenter with a slightly different spin on things. Take that personality, put it into a violent, constantly warring state, and you've got Signless. I know a lot of other RPers play him as the Sufferer, where he's angry all the time and is more like Karkat 2.0, but I didn't want that. First of all, I can't write Karkat worth a shit, so trying to play Signless that way would have ended in failure. Also, it's a lot more interesting to see how people react to him when he's this incredibly sweet, gentle personality who has time for everyone and only wants what is best.

Yeah, my whole thought was, if I wanted to play someone who was mad all the time, I'd play Karkat.

You want a Homestuck, huh? The cast is pretty big right now, but we're a welcoming group! I personally would love to see a Bro in the mix, but then I'm biased towards all things Strider. I personally take the approach of going "hey, this guy is cool, why don't I slap an app together and see what happens!" Like, literally. I did that with both Equius and Signless.

That's what I like best about the extremely minor characters, personally... you can really build them up from the skeletons you're given in canon, and as long as you can back up what you're doing, most don't bat an eye.
